Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for server or network switch systems, including chassis, brackets, drive bays, and other structural elements.
- Create 3D models and 2D detailed drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, Solid Edge).
- Perform tolerance analysis, structural analysis (FEA), acoustics, thermal analysis, design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
- Knowledge or Experience in Thermofluids dynamics design
- Collaborate with electrical, thermal, and industrial design teams to integrate mechanical solutions effectively.
- Material evaluation for mechanical components.
- Build and test prototypes, conduct mechanical validation (e.g., shock, vibration, fit tests), and drive issue resolution.
- Work with manufacturing partners to support tooling development, first article inspection, and ramp-up.
- Contribute to failure analysis of mechanical components and systems.
- Create and maintain mechanical design documentation.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Graduate to 3 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably for Enterprise equipment enclosures, network switch/server product, or similar complex equipment.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, Siemens NX).
- Familiarity on sheet metal design, plastic injection molding, and other manufacturing processes.
- Experience with DFM/DFA principles.
- Ability to perform basic structural and tolerance analyses.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with server chassis design (e.g., 1U, 2U rackmount servers).
- Familiarity on thermal management considerations in mechanical design.
- Experience with FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation).
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance (e.g., UL, CE) related to mechanical safety.
- Experience working with ODM, OEM or contract manufacturers.
